DDD01V / DDD01T - FAUXCHISELS AT THE B.C.R.C.
Album: AT THE B.C.R.C.
Release Date: 30th July 2018
Formats: Vinyl, Tape, Digital
DIE DAS DER announce the details of the first release on their new label:
Recorded live at the Black Country Recording Company (Wolverhampton) in front of a select audience of friends and strangers, Fauxchisels At The B.C.R.C. perfectly captures the energy and attitude of one of the West Midlands’ brightest post-punk trios.
Nine tracks of intense punky noise-rock — solid bass and drums creating the bedrock for the spiky guitar and colloquial ‘in-your-face’ vocals – serve as both a reflection of our times, and as a necessary verbose call from inaction, with a wry sense of humour and a poetic bent.
Engineered and Mixed by Jimm Zorn at the Black Country Recording Company, and Mastered by John (Monster Magnet/Wellwater Conspiracy) McBain at JPM Mastering in San Francisco.
Released on heavy-weight orange vinyl (first 100 copies with full colour lyric zine), limited edition cassette and streaming/download at all of the usual digital stores: 30th July 2018.
The band play a free album release show at the Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath, Birmingham on Thursday 30th August – with special guests Rat The Magnificent, Wax Futures and Richard Burke.
Originally formed in late 2013, Fauxchisels morphed through several line-up changes before cementing themselves as a tight trio: husband and wife Paul and Heather on guitar and bass, and Dicky on drums. All three have a rich (and long) history with other bands, the experiences of which have been forced and filtered into the brash, instant fulfilment of Fauxchisels. Proof positive that sometimes the fire only grows more intense with age.
Over the last few years they have shared the stage with bands as diverse as Post War Glamour Girls, A Place to Bury Strangers, Zun Zun Egui, Ghosts of Dead Airplanes, Frauds, Desperate Journalist, John, Table Scraps, The Courtesy Group and September Girls – building a dedicated following in their adopted second city heartland and further afield, and earning comparisons ranging from The Fall and Scratch Acid, to A Witness and Half Man Half Biscuit.
Paul: “The concept originally was to try to create short, impactful songs with the minimum of basic ingredients, but always trying to keep things slightly off kilter and on the verge of falling apart. With a smile.”
