DDD05V – Black Vinyl, edition of 235
Volume 02 of the DIE DAS DER Singles Club.
“A series of split 7″ singles featuring of the most intriguing and exciting bands from Birmingham and beyond…”
FRAUDS have been coming up to Birmingham to play for us almost since the inception of DIE DAS DER. They played for us twice in the first year – including at our now legendary 2014 Christmas Special (on a bill with Them Wolves, Youth Man, and John). They may be from Croydon, but they are honorary Midlanders to us. Exciting times are ahead for them, following their awesome debut album ‘With Morning Toast and Jam and Juice’ (which came out on Till Death Do Us Party at the end of 2017). With numerous high-profile festival slots secured for 2019, and more material on the way – they continue to excite us in ways other bands have yet to fathom.
Frauds is: Chris and Mikey.
In much the same way as the masked wrestler exploded into 1970s public consciousness on World of Sport under the gaze of a twinkling Dickie Davies, KENDO NAGASAKI erupted onto the Birmingham music scene with a crash, a bang and a ‘what the hell was that?’ in late 2018 (their debut gig being for us at Yr Very Welcome – but we don’t like to boast). Two drummers and a barbate trombonist with a pedal board the size of Tipton – creating blistering and bedazzling motorik soundscapes and improvisations that run the gamut from Soft Machine to Mr Bungle. They’ve already been included on a compilation by the trailblazing Polytechnic Youth label, and been played on national radio by Messrs Coe, Ravenscroft and Maconie. It’s crazy, it’s captivating and it’s brilliant. Enjoy the ride- I mean slide.
Kendo Nagasaki is: Mr Darleydale, Mr Measham and Mr Droitwich.
